Rachel Juzeler is a Southeast Alaska artist based out of Douglas Island. She draws inspiration from the antiquity and the ruins that surround where she lives as well as from ideas of creative thought, work ethic, and contradiction. This is especially true for the glass hammers on display, which were inspired by a visit to Haines and the Hammer Museum. By creating hammers made of glass, Juzeler changes the functional purposes of the tool into a wholly new and purely aesthetic purpose. The Hammer Museum is happy to display Rachel’s beautiful work!
