This crooked handle is the incredibly simple yet versatile device invented by John Bennett in 1977. Bennett’s idea of a bent handle came to him while using a push broom. He noticed discomfort in his wrist and hand after using the traditional straight handle. . He thought, “Instead of bending my wrist, why not bend the handle?” Bennett claimed that his grip could be adapted to just about anything with a handle including baseball bats, skis, suitcases, screwdrivers, frying pans, golf clubs, wheel barrels, and yes…. hammers! Back in 1977, Bennett was bent on changing the world with his handle which was designed with a 19 degree bend, Almost fifty years later, we don’t see many of John Bennett’s handy handles.
